Well eight months to go! 2-4-2019

Let me just say, that I can't believe my time in Ghana is
starting to come closer and closer to its end. I will be honest, I am not
ready to leave at all because of how much I love being here and how much I
love being a missionary. There is nothing more fulfilling than serving the Lord
everyday.
Training this past week has been going super well! Elder
Klinglesmith is learning very fast and surprisingly, he can put up with all of my
talking super well, ha ha! So here is funny story from this last week. Someone wanted to
test and see if Elder Klinglesmith could hear any Twi. So they said,
"Ayekoo" which means well done. His response was, "Am I
cold?" Ha ha ha the way the person said it sounded like they were asking if
he was cold and we all started laughing so hard! My poor companion had no idea
what was going on so we had to explain it to him. Once he figured it out, he also
had a pretty good laugh about it, ha ha.
Now for something pretty cool that happened! On Wednesday, I
had to do a baptismal interview for my Zone Leaders. While doing the interview, I felt inspired to ask her how she received the answer to her prayers that this
is the one true church. She told me that every time she came to church, she was so confused as too what was going on. She didn't understand some of the
things that we do and she felt uncomfortable about being so lost on all the teachings
and doctrines. Well one night, she had a dream where a man came to her and asked her what was wrong. She told the man that she was confused and she couldn't figure out which
way to go. Well the man told her very simply, "Just pray and ask God." So when she woke up she said her prayer and she said that at the same moment
she felt the confirmation that indeed this is the church she needed to
attend.
And another cool thing that happened was on Sunday. Our
investigator Samuel bore his testimony in sacrament meeting! I was so shocked! He isn't a
very outgoing guy! But he went up, and said that he indeed knows this is the
true church and that he needs to attend it. He told the congregation how he received
his answers and he thanked everyone for the example they all were to him. After
church, he came to me and said, "Elder Baird, are you sure we can't move my
baptism closer?" ha ha Sadly, I had to tell him no because we have to do more
lessons first. It's so amazing to me that he wants to be baptized this bad. It
shows me how devoted to this gospel he truly is.
This email is shorter today because we have had the lights off most of
the day so I don't have much time to write this email. I want to leave you
with a thought from my personal studies. In 1 Nephi 11 the prophet Nephi wants
to know if what his father saw in a vision was true. The angel asked him if he
believed his father and he said yes. Then the angel revealed to him the vision.
If you noticed, Nephi had the faith that it was true before it was shown unto him. I
want to invite all of you to have that faith that things can be true before you
ask for a confirmation from the Spirit. Sometimes we will only believe if the Spirit tells us. Well show Him you already believe and then the He will show you the answer.
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
Mom's notes:
1. He is excited for Ben and Alexis getting married this month.
2. He couldn't send pictures this week because the computer he was working on has viruses and he didn't want to lose them.
