Well we got a new apartment! 2-11-2019
One of the members (Sister Josephine) was having her hair
done so she asked if she could
do it to me, ha ha. Of course I said yes. :)
So this last week was quite interesting. Wednesday we had a
meeting at the mission home to have a follow up training for the trainers and the trainees. That took most of the day, so by the time we got back to our area we
had very little time to go out and proselyte. Especially, because we had to pack
that same night to move the next day. Thursday, we moved apartments to a place
much closer to the chapel. Which is a relief! It was quite interesting though.
After moving in, we learned that we weren't going to have water until the next Tuesday
(which is tomorrow). Then, as I walked in the kitchen I saw a giant mouse
run under the fridge.... Well come to find out, it's living in the back of the
fridge and we can't get it out. So we have had an unexpected visitor for the
past few days.
On Friday, we were able to go out but not for very long
because we had a meeting with our Zone Leaders and then on Saturday we had to go
back again to the Zone Leaders apartment for a baptismal interview. SO it was
a bit of a crazy week!
Gotta love it when
your Internet Cafe has no light.
We had a super cool lesson with Samuel again on Saturday. We
went there to teach him two commandments. The law of chastity and the word of wisdom.
He had no problems with them and he accepts them completely so we were able to end
the lesson in like twenty minutes. When we were leaving he said, "Is there
anything else you need to teach me before my baptism?" We told him we had
to teach him about the Sabbath day and tithing. Then he said, "Well then teach
them to me now! I need to learn!" ha ha. So we did! Man this guy is just so
awesome!
When we were done, he told us how ever since he started attending this
church everything just makes sense and it is so simple. He doesn't feel confused
or worried about anything anymore. He knows without a doubt this is indeed the Lord's church and he is so excited for this coming Sunday. I am also so excited
for him!
Anna was getting mad that I was trying to take pictures of
her, ha ha. This is one of
the ones I managed to get without her knowing.
Well there really wasn't much else that happened this week, ha ha. So sorry for such a short letter. But let me just testify to you that all that our Savior truly lives. We have had so many changes in the church recently. I have seen so many people become strengthened in Christ. Please continue building your faith in Him. I know that if you do so, the Lord will show you many miracles in your lives.
We were just walking
and I said take a picture of me real quick. It ended up
being a pretty ugly
smile, ha ha.
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
I bought masks for all the kids in the Baird family.
...and I got a cool craft just for you. :) (Yay for Mom!)
Mom's notes:
1. The new apartment has a washer.
2. He is not impressed that Lauren will be two and half years ahead of him in College when he starts. ;)
3. The baptism for Samuel is this Sunday. Samuel is twenty four years old and he was a referral from a member who just moved here from Nigeria. So Samuel is Nigerian as well. He came for a job. I guess that people come there a lot from jobs. The job market is better but still not good.
4. I asked him how he has been showering without water. This was his answer, "Remember the plastic bags that I showed you on my first call
home? They are for drinking but instead i pour it on myself, ha ha.
5. He also found some cool necklaces, bracelets and earrings that are made of the local kentia fabric.
6. He said, "We are teaching Jesly still and a cool guy named Eric. He called us and he said that he wants to meet with us to schedule a baptism for him so we will see how that goes. :)
7. He hasn't ate any strange things lately. He says that it is all normal stuff because he is in the city.
8. His new email address is landon.baird@missionary.org
