Happy Mother's Day!!!
This little girl is
so adorable, ha ha!
May 14th, 2018
I know that Mother's day was
yesterday but anyone who reads this I just want you to know how amazing all of our Mothers are! I mean they give birth to some of the biggest knuckle-heads *cough
*cough...me, ha ha. But seriously though, you Mom's are absolutely amazing! You have
raised us in the church our entire lives and taught us everything we need to
know in order to follow our Savior the best we can. I love reading the story of
the 2,000 stripling warriors because they specifically say that their mothers
taught them to be faithful and to remember the Lord always. Just as you have all
done. I love you all and just want to thank you for giving all of your children
your time and devotion to raise us in this world today.
For funerals in Akatsi they get a bunch guys together on motorcycles and just drive around
honking their horns for ever, ha ha.
Well now I will talk about how
much I am going to miss Akatsi. I have been here for 6 and a half months and it
has been one of the greatest experiences of my entire life. It truly has. The
people here are amazing. They are prepared by the Lord and they have been waiting to
receive the truth. Now they have been given it, and they are accepting it
faster than ever. But, sadly I won't be here to witness the growth for myself.
But that is okay because I get to live knowing that I was trusted by the Lord to
introduce the gospel to a new place in the world. Not many people get to say
that they opened a branch out in the jungle of Africa. I am so thankful for
that opportunity. Some people have asked if it will be difficult to leave, and
my honest response is no. The reason why is because I know that it is my time to
go. The Lord has chosen me to serve somewhere else so I have a completely calm
mind about leaving. Yes I am sad, but I know that as I go to new areas I will be
able to have more experiences that will change my life.
This is Peter John,
He was baptized in Spain in 1995 and he one of the greatest men I have ever
met. I will truly miss him a lot.
This email isn't too long today
because this last week was just a busy, busy week and nothing too exciting
happened. I just want to add one more thing that I told my family in my
call last night. I told them that we need to remember this truth told in the
BOM. By small and simple things, great things come to pass. It is just so true.
The church started small in Ghana, but by small and simple things it is now
spreading all over Ghana into all the villages. Eventually one day, everyone
in Ghana will know of the true church of Jesus Christ.
This woman has been
such a wonderful lady to work with. Her name is Irene and she is a teacher and she just
truly loves the church and what it teaches.
Calling my family last
night was such a wonderful experience and I cannot tell you all how much I love
them. They have shaped me into who I am today. Without them I wouldn't be here.
Hold your families dear to you, never forget them, because we are meant to be
with them for all of eternity, so you will want to like them. :)
This is Godwill. He knows the bible so stinking well and because of that he sees the truth of our church because we are the only church
who truly follows all its teachings.
I love you all and hope you
have an amazing week!
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
I have been teaching
this women since the first day I came to Akasi. Anita has been so kind and generous to
me and I will truly miss her. She is preparing to be baptized this month along with Godwill.
Mom's notes:
1. For his p-day he went to Aflao played sports on the beach and got some pizza. He said that pizza in Ghana is alright, not amazing but it it something different to eat. ;)
2. Elder Baird was able to call his Grandmother who is very sick he said, "I am SO grateful for being able to talk to her!"
3. He is excited to be able to start "fresh and new" in his new area. :)
...and the packing
continues, ha ha.
