5 Weeks Completed!
Taking a break on a
kart that was just on the side of the road.
Hello everyone. Man! I have been in Ghana for over 1 month
already! It is honestly so crazy to see how fast time goes by! It honestly
feels like I just got here and I'm already down to 23 months left. When you are
working and earnestly trying to serve the Lord the time goes by really quick and it is so nice to feel that blessing!
Ok, my week has been crazy! We couldn't drive from
Dzodze to Akatsi (pronounced Ah-cot-see) every day last week so we stayed and did splits on Wednesday
and Thursday. We got to teach a lot of members and it was really cool to meet
such strong people! One lesson there was a lizard running on the roof, which
are made of metal, and it's such a loud sound from it's talons scratching on the
metal! It freaked me out at first, to be honest, haha!
Later that same day...... I went to a members house.
They made us dinner. It was rice with some sauce that was super good. They gave
us some fish, Cow skin, and some other kind of meat. I was interested to know
what kind of fish it was that I was eating, he said it was just fish from the
sea and the other meat was RAT...... I ate a rat!!!!! Like what in the heck!!!!
Of all the things to eat I ate a dirty filthy rodent that lives in sewers! Like
what in the world?!!!!
Foofoo with palm nut
soup. It's so good!
Dinner with Dzodze
elders.
So I finally ate foofoo! I actually really enjoyed it and
thought it tasted way good! I also ate some other stuff and it was way
good! I think I'm actually gaining weight out here, haha. So now I've started to
workout and it's been helping quite a bit!
That is my back yard.
This next week is going to be crazy and I have to just
explain it to you, haha. Last night we drove to Ho. It's about a 3 hour
drive. We stayed there because there was a Multi Zone activity in Ashaman. So
we stayed at Ho Sunday night. Then got up at 5:30 to drive another 3 hours to
Ashaman. Then we drove back to Akatsi today which was about 2.5 hours. Then
tomorrow my companion has to go to the mission home, so we both will drive 3
hours to Ho. I will stay there and one of the elders will go with him. Then Wednesday we will meet back up and go back to Akatsi and will begin working
again on Thursday. There is so much driving it's insane! haha. But that is ok.
The power went out so I made a light with my flashlight and a
water bottle, haha. I think that the picture looks pretty cool :) and the power
goes out a lot I've learned, haha.
I love it out here. Like I can't even describe how amazing the people are. They are so kind and accepting. They love the gospel. They have such a yearning to learn about Christ and it is honestly so powerful to see. I miss you all, but that is ok because I know that when I get to see you all again it will just be the greatest day ever.
Love you all!
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
Sounds SOOOOO yummy. :) In Germany we had access to blood sausage, and Ireland has Haggis---sheep stomach stuffed with oatmeal, heart, lungs, brains and every other insides-icky stuff, then boiled and served with gravy. Scrambled eggs and brains is tame in comparison.
ReplyDeleteYa ain't gonna escape the local goodies.
Forge forth!
Nope, I guess not! I guess this Thanksgiving I am very grateful for missionaries and their bravery in going all over the world. What amazing examples they are to me!
