Howdy Everyone!
One of the methods of travel is paying a guy on a
motorcycle to drive you around. It's cheap and quick. So this is us driving on
a moto. :)
This week has been crazy! I kind of told you about it
last week and how I will be traveling a lot! So, I will just sum it all up
for you guys ha ha.
On Tuesday we went to Ho so that I could stay with an
Elder Fuller. Then his companion and my companion could go back to Accra to
renew there non-citizenship cards. So for Tuesday and part of Wednesday I went
teaching with Elder Fuller. He is a super cool guy and a really good missionary!
He is on his 22nd month so he is super close to going home! On Tuesday night when I was with him, I was looking through their fridge for some food, then I
noticed a very specific candy in the corner. I asked him how he got it and he said
there was a store near by that sells them in bulk for really cheap. I just
about lost my mind! Because it was my absolute favorite candy of all time! I
won't say what it is so you can all just find out in the picture I have of it! :)
This was at a member
in Dzodze, I did splits with Elder Jones and the kids asked us to make a car so
we did, and we put our names in it. :)
Thursday we went out and had some lessons planned and
were excited to have a full day. It was also our first day to use our bikes
because we just got them! Which by the way is amazing because our area is huge!
So we went to meet one of our investigators who is just awesome. She doesn't
have much desire to come to church so we just decided to be her friend and
offer to help her out with anything! So we started to help her pull the seeds
out of occro pods. I will send a picture so you have an idea of what it looks
like. But it's not easy! And it kind of hurts your hands a lot! So we did that
for about an hour and were about to leave when it just started to pour rain!
Like I mean heavy, heavy rain! And all the roads were flooded with mud and other
stuff so we waited out the rain for another hour and picked the seeds out of
these pods. After we finished she was super grateful and wants to start feeding
us on Sundays! So we are making some progress!
These are the occro
pods.
Then on Friday we had to do baptismal interviews for the
district so we went to Aflouo and Dzodze all day so we didn't get to do much
proselyting!
Then Saturday... Oh, Saturday.... We set up a bunch of
appointments and were super excited about them. Well, as we got to all of our
appointments, they all fell through which was super hard because I was so
excited to teach them. But it's OK! We got to meet with some other people and
had some really good lessons! SO even though it was hard, a lot of good came
out of it!
Today we went on a zone activity. You will never guess
what we did. WE WENT TO A MONKEY SANCTUARY!!!!!! We legit got to feed monkeys
and play with them for over an hour!!! Like that is one of my items on my
life's bucket list! If you know me, I love monkeys with a passion so it was one
of the greatest things ever! :)
Well that was my week! I sure do love you all and hope you
are doing well! Feel free to email me and let me know what you are all doing! I
love hearing from you and seeing how things at home are going:)
Sincerely, Elder Baird
Oh and I cut my hair. :)
I do know my way around pretty good! It's kind of difficult navigating
through all the houses and huts because there really aren't any
designated roads once you leave the main road. ha ha!
We
have about 30 new investigators ha ha. About 6 of them we are teaching and
meeting with, but all those other people we can't really teach to much because
we need to focus on a small group at a time. We don't
want to only see them like once a week and keep track of so many other
investigators. So we are just focusing on a few at a time to see if they will
become good strong members.
It's
been a good week! Some ups and downs but there will always be some of those!
And no I didn't do anything on Thanksgiving ha ha. I was so busy working that I
actually forgot it was Thanksgiving until late that night! And that is super
exciting for both of them! (Maddy & Katie's news)
