Saying goodbye...
On Sunday, October 15th, Landon spoke in church on service.
After church we had dinner of Hawaiian Haystacks (the twins favorite). Brook made a slideshow that we played. Here is that as well:
Saying goodbye was hard. Landon had some specific things he wanted to do, like have Lauren pop his back for the last time in 2 years.

He got set apart by President Harris on Tuesday, October 17th. It was a very beautiful and comprehensive blessing. He should be very safe and happy on his mission with a blessing as incredible as that was. Our wonderful big family all showed up to support him. Thank you amazing family!!! Then afterwards we went to the Cantina for a very cheesy last family meal for Elder Baird.
October 18th, 2017 we got up early and Mom, Dad and Landon attended the temple together. It was a pretty special morning!
We came home to finish packing, shoving and weighing Landon's luggage. It was quite a chore!
Then we had a couple of hours to wait until we headed for the airport. We spent the time visiting and Landon did some final rough housing with the kids.
Then we all piled in the van for a ride to the airport. We had a bit of an issue with the luggage. His carry ons were too heavy. We rotated stuff around and paid the extra charges and the nice lady even threw in his granola bars at the last minute.
Then it was time to head upstairs to say goodbye. It was gut wrenching. We know it is where he needs to be but we sure are going to miss his helpful, kind, funny and quirky personality.
Good bye Elder Baird. We love you!!!
So sweet! It makes me want to cry all over again. It's hard to let them go.
ReplyDeleteIt was actually much harder than I expected! But seeing him having such a neat experience really made it so much better!
DeleteOh my word, I got all teary eyed reading this! So bitter sweet! He's going to be such an effective missionary, you guys have prepared him well!
ReplyDeleteYa, I probably won't watch the slideshow for a bit. But at the same time I am so happy that he is happy! He has wanted this for his whole life! :)
