End of week 3 letter!

Elder Kowal and Elder Baird

Hey everyone! I just got a chance to email you all real quick! I just got out of the MTC and I am in the field! Let me just say it is a completely different world outside of the MTC! Like holy cow! So the mission home is about 10 minutes from the MTC so we put our suitcases in a van and then we just walked over. Right before we left I found Elder Kowal! (For those of you who don't know his full name is Braden Kowal and we grew up together and always hung out while growing up.) It was super cool to see him! He was made the AP yesterday so he had to help out with all the new missionaries coming! Then when we got to the MTC we got to go out and proselyte! And I was grouped up with Elder Kowal! So going out with him was such a great experience! He can speak Twi and Ewe so well so it's funny to see peoples response when they see a white man speaking their language! So we got to do that for a few hours and gave out like 6 Books of Mormon! It was super cool! But it is really hard, to be honest ha ha.

Real quick... something super funny that happened, Elder Kowal was putting me into the sketchy areas almost immediately. We left the sidewalks and were walking all around in the alley ways and going through houses finding people. At one point I found a group of about 6 guys lounging and hanging out. So I went and decided to teach them! They were pretty interested in knowing what we were teaching about and got us chairs and let us meet with them for a little while. After we left Elder Kowal looks at me and goes, "so did you figure out that we were at a bar?" I had absolutely no idea and apparently they were all super drunk so that was quite interesting:p I guess on my first day I got to teach a bunch of drunks about the gospel!

I love being out here, It is getting pretty hard, I really miss home, especially my family and friends. But I know that I am doing the Lord's work to bring to pass the immortality of man. I love this gospel and I am already feeling love for the people.

(Sorry I never got a chance to take pictures today, and I didn't have much time to write this, so next week!)

Sincerely,

Elder Baird
