Busy, busy week!
Eating at the Sedro families house.
Man, this last week was crazy!
We had a ton of people to see this past week and it was pretty dang difficult to do, but we did it! We had so many lessons and new people that we met with and it was just such a blessing!
It was super hot last week so I decided to cool off in a freezer in a shop, ha ha.
On Thursday, we traveled to Ho to participate in a multi-zone conference which was just absolutely amazing. President Keye's taught us a lot of really cool things. One thing he did was introduced our mission goal and how we are to achieve it. In our mission, our goal is to have 1,500 baptisms and confirmations by the end of 2018. Man, let me just say, I was quite shocked by that number because that is a lot of people! But as President Keyes was explaining it, I realized that it is completely possible! I felt so motivated because it made me think, if we can reach that goal, then what if we keep getting that same goal every year. That means the church in just 1/4th of Ghana will be growing by an insane amount. So as a zone, we were all super motivated to achieve our zone goals and then to get extra ones to help out other zones who struggle. I can't even tell you guys how blessed I am to be here. The work here is just so amazing and there are so many rewards that come out of working hard. If you work hard in Africa, you will see so many blessing and rewards. I love this place! :)
On the funny side of things, while biking home at around 8:30 one night, there was a guy who biked up next too us and yelled, "Hey guys! Let's stretch our legs!" Then Wilcox says, "Wanna race??" Then that guy he just started to take off. Wilcox and I looked at each other and said lets do this! So we started to pedal as fast as we could! It got to a point where all 3 of us were at the exact same speed and no one was gaining any distance and so we just had to stop because our legs were burning so bad, ha ha ha. Well we got home a lot faster that night which was pretty dang fun:)
We were writing on Sister Vida's hand for no reason, ha ha.
Church this Sunday was a little rough, to be honest. We had 17 people there which was a bit of a disappointment because we had about 10 people promise us they would be there, but nope! They decided not to come, for some reason, and won't tell us why, ha ha. It's difficult because they tell us they know it is true, they want to be baptized and they promise that they will come. But they just can't make the effort to come to church. It is killing me, ha ha. But at the same time, I know it will just take time. Missionary work requires patience. A lot of patience! But hey, with patience comes success so as we continue to work and be patient we will be successful! :)
Our zone at zone conference in Ho.
SO sorry for such a short email this week. It's just that not too much happened because of traveling and what not. I just want to share with you something President Keyes shared with us. He showed us a quote that said, "You can't go back and change your past, but what you can do is learn from it and change your future." That hit me really hard because we all have past mistakes. We at times feel guilty for things and feel like there is no changing. But there is a possibility of change through our Savior. Because of Him we have the wonderful gift of repentance, and once you repent, change can start to happen. So don't hold on to your past. Let go and then change your future. I love you all and hope you have an amazing week!
Sincerely,
Elder Baird

Mom's notes:
1. I asked him how he was getting along with his companion. He said, "OH this companionship is amazing! We just get along with everything! We both love Star Wars, sports, and working hard, ha ha! We proselyte for 10 hours or more a day when the mission standard is 8 and a half. We are just working so well together and it's great!
2. He got to watch Moana. He said that he loved it and the movie is really well done. It is a new mission rule that they can watch Disney movies. They can buy them really cheap so they bought a whole bunch of them. :)
3. For p-day they went to Aflao and ate pizza and then they watched Moana.
