Training 2.0 has begun! 1-28-2019

Playing Frisbee by a school and being swarmed by kids. :) It was awesome. :)

Man, training is a blast, ha ha! My new companion is Elder Klinglesmith from Roy, Utah! This guy is awesome! All he wants to do. is learn and "be one" with the people of Ghana and so we are enjoying ourselves a lot!

There weren't any really cool lessons that happened this week, ha ha, but a lot of funny things happened! The first funny thing was the first time I had Elder Klinglesmith eat Banku. He did very well but he had a very hard time swallowing it because he is the person who hates pills.. SO the sticky corn dough didn't sit well with him, ha ha, but he did super well! He is learning all the food here very quickly!

Elder Klinglesmith and I.

Then on Sunday, we went to visit a good friend of ours named Doris. She has been taught by missionaries but hasn't had the desire to join the church. She has one burning question with her always. Why did her mom join the church? I have learned that before I came here her mother was very sick and was very keen on getting baptized into this church. She knew it was the only true church and she needed to join before she passed on. The cool thing about it is Elder Wilcox (my old companion) did the interview for her baptism. SO Doris always wonders why her Mom wanted to join so fast. Well when we went over there she was beginning to pound fufu. So me being my typical self I made sure she let me help her pound. So I did it for a little bit. We ate some of the fufu. My companion could barely eat any because he has a small stomach. Then after that, we were  talking to Doris and she looked at me and said, "Why is the Book of Mormon so important to your church?" I testified of what the Book of Mormon is and what it teaches us and then we left. I don't know if the Spirit bore witness to her if it was true but I hope that it will one day help her come to know it!

Right after that lesson we went over to see some investigators, and guess what? They were making fufu!!! So I pounded fufu again, ha ha ha ha! My companion was so excited to eat more fufu!!(not really, ha ha) It was a really cool experience because some people who are living there didn't know who we were, so we explained a little bit about who we are. Then she said, "Well, I want to come and see your church for myself." I asked why she wanted to come and she said, "Well, maybe it's the truth!" That was pretty cool to hear her say! I didn't even say anything about the church and she already had a desire to see if it was! SO maybe it was designed by God for us to go and see that family and pound fufu for them!

I don't really have much more to say from this last week because not too much happened, ha ha! I just want you to know that anything done by revelation through God's chosen leaders is divine. Elder Klinglesmith and I are supposed to be together and I know the Lord wanted me to train him. I am so honored and excited for this opportunity and can't wait to see how he will progress.

Sincerely,
Elder Baird

1. He was tired today because he played ultimate Frisbee for four hours.

2. He says that he loves his new companion and that he is awesome!!! His companion is so happy and excited to be in Ghana. He used to be a picky eater but he is eating everything. He loves teaching and can already teach very well. He always has a smile on his face. :)

3. He says that someday I will try fufu.
