Things always happen when you least expect it! 2-18-2019
Elder Baird wasn't able to load his pictures this week. He will do them next week. I put this one because he was able to attend the temple on Saturday.
This past week was quite stressful, ha ha. I am going to go
day by day so you can understand why, ha ha.
Okay so on Tuesday we started with our District Council as usual. After
we were done, we played some liar's dice and we had a good old time. Then the Sister
missionaries said, "Elder Baird, we need you to do two baptismal interviews
right now." Well I hadn't planned for that, but I didn't want to cause any
problems so I said okay. Then they said that we had to wait for them to eat some food.
So they ate and then we went to do the interview. After I finished, the two
interviews it was already six in the evening. I had to also go over to
the Zone leaders area's and do another baptism interview. That didn't end until
around eight. We finally got to go back to my area but it was too late to
proselyte...
On Wednesday, we went out in the morning and for a little
bit in the afternoon but we had a meeting with our zone leaders that same day
so that took all of our evening. We only went out for half of the day. So we
really didn't get out to proselyte much again.
Thursday, I did an exchange with Elder Crockett. I
was super excited and had a full day planned out. Well we got a call in the
morning right after planning our day and the guy said, "I'm coming to fix
your water and you will need to be there so I can go in and out of your
apartment." So guess what? That took the entire day!!!! So we couldn't go
out again!
Then on Friday, we had planned out to go and see a few people. I
was super excited to actually get to proselyte, when I got a call from the
Bishop and he said," Elders don't forget to go to brother Rines house to
paint it!" Gahhhh! All of our plans fell through again! We ended
painting at three and then we had interviews with the mission president at four-thirty. The didn't end until around six.
Now Saturday, was a bit better. In the morning, we went to
take our recent convert sister Isata to the temple to do baptisms for the dead
for her first time. It was so wonderful and so exciting to be with her. Well
guess what? If any of you remember, a few weeks ago I went back to Batsonaa to
witness the baptism of Quinstar, Ritalord and Blessilia. Well they were also at
the temple doing baptisms for their first time and I was so excited to see
them! I didn't know they were coming so it was a complete surprise! I was so
proud and excited for them! :)
After the temple, we went to do the baptism
interview for Samuel. After the interview, Samuel came out and said,
"Baird! I passed!!" Then he did a double fist pump to the air, ha ha!
HE was so happy and I was just so happy for him. We will baptism him this
coming Sunday. We had to postpone it because of ward council on this past Sunday.
Well I guess the theme of my email is, that sometimes life is
hard. You feel like you have no control of situations and you get really
frustrated. Well don't give up. If you don't give up and keep trying and
trying, eventually the reward will come. I guess we can say, the Lord rewarded me on Saturday. I am very thankful for all that he has done for me in my life and in
my mission. I love you all!
Sincerely, Elder Baird
Mom's notes:
1. We had a great conversation with Elder Baird today. He is well and happy and glad to serve the last third of his mission. He will probably call for a half of an hour per Monday. Plus, birthdays and stuff. He said that it is pretty cheap to call the US but it is expensive to call Ghana from the US because Ghana charges tariffs. He said that it costs 10 cedi’s for two and a half hours of talk time. Which is about two dollars in American money. It’s worth it to me. J
