This email will be a bit better than last week, ha ha! 9-16-2019

This past week was a little more eventful than the week before, ha ha. So let's start from Wednesday!
On Wednesday evening, I started an exchange with Elder
Chrysler in his area which is called Santoe. I can honestly say that was one of
my best exchanges that I have ever been on. But it was probably a little different from what
you would think. We started the day off normal by just planning and filling up all
of our time with a lot of lessons. We began with one lesson which went
very well. Then we went back to the house for lunch, I played Bananagrams for
the first time (and won, he he...) and then went back out for our next
appointments. Well, the first one fell through, then the second and then the
third. Then the next appointment we had was in an area that Elder Chrysler did not
know very well so we began just biking for about two hours before we found the
area.
What was so cool though, was that we had two unplanned lessons that came from it that were such amazing lessons. Then our last lesson was the best. We were teaching the plan of salvation to a man (I forgot his name) and then his friend decided he would come and join the lesson because he didn't have anything else to do. While we were teaching him he was asking such inspired questions that were so amazing because his questions invited the Spirit because of how sincere they were. One question he asked was if there is Heaven and Hell. We explained that "hell" isn't really a place but a state of being and that we won't actually burn. After we explained it, he was so happy because he felt that we had answered his questions that he has had for so long. HE never believed Hell was really a place because how can a loving Heavenly Father send us to burn in fire. The smile on his face when we left was just amazing.
Then on Saturday, we went to help at a wedding for two members
who were recently baptized. They asked us to come because all of the people that
came were not members of the church, so they asked us to use it as an
opportunity to teach and invite people to learn about what we teach. So we set up
a table with Pamphlets and copies of the Book of Mormon. I will be honest, at
first it wasn't working. No one was coming to ask about what we were doing or
anything about what we teach. After a few hours, we finally had a man who came
and sincerely said, "I have been taught so many things about this church
in my old church. So please, can you tell me the truth?" He started
asking questions like "Is the BOM a secret book?" or "Do we
worship a different God named Mormon?" After answering his questions, he
said he must have people come to his house to teach him so that he can continue
to learn to know if this could possibly be the truth. Then after we talked to him, another person came, and another, and another! By the end of the day we had thirteen people who came and asked us questions and who wanted to be taught. It was more of a success than I thought it would be because we didn't ask them to
learn, they asked to be taught. So let's hope some of these people work out!
I like this one. ;)
Then on Sunday, we were at church and there is a family that we are teaching that finally came to church for the first time! Well, actually they used to come to church but in a different ward, but they just recently moved into our ward. Having them come to our ward finally was amazing! The Sunday school lesson was about "Reconciling Ourselves with God" after the lesson the father who is named Wisdom came to me and said, "This is exactly the lesson I needed because it's about time my family reconciles with God" That made me so happy to hear because he finally is willing to learn and come to church. Then after church, we had a baptism interview for sister Janice, and she passed!!! So we will be baptizing her next week!!!! I am so stinking happy because she will finally make a covenant with Christ and become a member of the church.
Man time is flying by. But one thing is for sure, missionary
work is divine and the church really is true. I love being here and a part of
me will always remain in Ghana.
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
Mom's notes: (I know, its been awhile. Because he can call me now, I forget what we talk about.)
1. His camera was stolen at the wedding, so it may be hard to get pictures for the last two weeks of his mission.
2. Yep that's right!!! He comes home two weeks from Friday!!! Crazy!!! I will miss his adventures and growth that I get to see every week. Exited to hug him and watch him move into the next adventures of his life. :)
