A good fun filled week! 6-10-2019
Elder Baird forgot to bring his camera with him to the church when he came to do his email. So here is a pretty picture of the Accra Ghana temple (courtesy of the church website). :)
This past week was just a fun busy week and it went
really well! It's been such a blast getting to know Elder Smith really
well, because I have learned what a great missionary he is. I am very grateful I get to serve with him.
This past week, on Wednesday, we had MLC (mission
leadership conference) and things went really well. We mainly talked about
how we can strengthen the mission, how we can help missionaries to feel more
successful and to not only look to the numbers for success. It really touched me
because sometimes in life we look for immediate success. Especially as missionaries, success may not come for a long ways down the road. Many times, missionaries will need to measure our success by our devotion
and dedication in serving the Lord. Only then, can we feel that immediate success in the work that we are doing. This can be applied in just about anything that we do in life.
One really cool thing that happened after MLC was that we got
to go and meet Elder Sesay in the hospital. Elder Sesay has been in the hospital for a few months doing cancer treatments to
help cure his cancer. Let me just say, his faith is amazing. He was telling us
all the negative things that he is suffering from and how negative the doctors
feel about his success. But, he told us that he knows the Lord is watching over him
and that the cancer will leave after his treatments. He had no doubt in his mind that he will be helped. It is amazing to see how positive he is. He even goes around and teaches people about the Book of Mormon. He does this even though he himself is barely
able to function. That is just a testimony to me that the Lord will
strengthen us to do his work.
Another cool thing that happened was on Sunday, we
had an investigator come to church named Uche. He told us last week not to
expect him to come to church because he wasn't ready to join yet. But guess
what? He came! Ha ha, it was awesome! I was completely shocked but I was so happy
at the same time! Then after that, we learned that our branch and a few
wards will be piloting a new child and youth program. It will help them to
focus on receiving personal revelation for which I am super excited about!
It's amazing to see how much the Lord trusts us and how He is willing to give us revelation. I strongly encourage everyone to help build their spirituality and receive personal revelation. I love you all so much!
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
