Guess what??? I'm sick again, ha ha! 5-13-2019

There was a big rainstorm today when we were going to the mall. We got soaked, ha ha!
All the roads were flooded!

Well it's no surprise that I got a sinus infection, because literally all the Elders in my apartment and a few more in the zone got the same thing, so It was about time I contracted the plague as well, ha ha. But oh well! It's nothing too surprising anymore, ha ha!

This past week was quite interesting though! I will start with Wednesday. That was the day of our MLC (a.k.a Mission Leader Conference). It is where all the zone leaders meet together with the mission president to discuss the concerns of the mission and how we can increase enthusiasm in the mission. The main theme of the whole conference was change. It was about how we can change the mission culture among the missionaries and how we can increase the level of excitement for the work in the Lord's vineyard. Eventually our Mission President just said, "From now on, no more contacting in the streets and no more knocking on gates." We were shocked...... I honestly think I now realize how the Pharisees must have felt when Christ said that the Law of Moses is fulfilled and done away with. I was not negative about it like the Pharisees though! I was excited! It was a huge change that no one was expecting! But I can tell you this, it was truly inspired of the Lord, because changes like that should increase our desire to go out and work harder. I can tell you, I want to go out tomorrow even earlier to try new ideas of finding investigators instead of the same old thing we have been doing for years!

Then on Thursday, Elder Jones and I popped in to see some Elders in their apartment. We went to just watch their morning routine and see how we can encourage them to work harder. When we got there, I was impressed with how prepared they were to go out for the day! Then we went and split off with the two companionship's too go and teach one lesson with them. The lesson we went and taught was super, super cool. Their investigator is so excited to get baptized that he just kept asking them over and over again, "It's this Sunday right??" ha ha It was super cool to see the desire that he has to be baptized! SO...Thursday was a good day!

On Friday, I got to go on an exchange with Elder Calderon. He is one of the other Elders in our apartment. We had a really good busy day seeing a ton of people. What was funny though, was that Elder Jones and Elder Bangura couldn't go out because Elder Bangura was suffering from what I am dying with now, ha ha. Elder Calderon and I went back and forth between both of our areas to teach my investigators and his investigators. We biked a lot and taught a lot of lessons!

Sunday was a very big surprise for us! We had a branch conference and two weeks ago our Branch President was asking everyone to bring a friend for the missionaries to teach. Well guess what? We received ten referrals on Sunday alone! That has never happened on my mission, ha ha! We were blown away! Then we went to go and visit some more members and they gave us some more referrals! So we have about twelve people that we can go and teach this week, and guess what? We didn't contact any of them... they were all people that members invited and asked us to teach. Already we are seeing a change in our area from our new plan of not contacting anymore. IT was truly inspired of the Lord to impress President Keyes to change our method of finding new people.

I want to testify that this church is indeed true because of the continuous revelation that we receive. Change must happen in order for the Lord to prepare his children for the second coming of his son, Jesus Christ. That change began first with Jesus Christ, and then on to Joseph Smith. SO as the Church of Heavenly Father continues to make changes we need to look at the purpose and also who is receiving those instructions. I love you all!

Sincerely,
Elder Baird
