Another week in the work! 5-6-2019
Ashaiman Bus Station (No pictures again so I found this one online. :) )
I want to start off telling you about the Ashalley Botwe Ward,
(my previous area). They will be having three baptisms this next Sunday, and guess what?
They were all people that I found and taught! I want to tell you that I
am so happy for them! It's sad and a little hard that I won't be able to go and
be a part of it, but I am just happy that they are finally going to get the
chance to enter into a new covenant with God. :)
A funny thing about it is
that I forgot to tell the mother of two who were getting baptized that I was
leaving the area. A few days ago, I got a call and all I heard was, "Elder
Baird! You didn't tell me you were leaving!!!!" She was a little upset, ha ha ha. So...I made a little mistake, but after that she was telling me how
excited she was to see her kids preparing to get baptized into the
church. She continued to thank me for teaching her and giving her family the
opportunity for all of them to join the church together.
Also this past week, on Saturday, we went out with the goal
to find two new people to teach. Elder Jones remembered two people he had met a little while
back at a gas station, so we decided to try to go and see them. We started
talking with them and I brought up how we are missionaries and would like to
share a message with them. The first girl didn't seem all that interested but
she had another friend that came in and she seemed super interested! She asked great questions and she seemed very interested in what we were teaching. We
asked if we could come and see her this week and she said very quickly,
"Come Monday night and I will be waiting with more questions!" SO we will
see her this evening, I guess!
Yesterday, we had the chance to go and teach a
new girl named Beatrice. We have been trying to teach her for a few weeks now.
Last night we finally had the chance to teach her and it went super well! She
even told us she wants to join the church! Which apparently the members nearby
have been trying for a long time to get her too come! SO we were able to extend
to her a baptismal date and began teaching her! Things are moving along pretty well!
To be honest, this past week though was a bit rough. It
seemed like nothing was going well all week. I was quite unhappy with how
things were going. But as my mom was talking to me today, she made me realize
that no matter what there is always something good. They may seem bad but there is always a silver lining, especially in
missionary work!
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
