A very, very long week... 12-10-2018

Anna's Baptism

Well not much happened this past week, since I sat in my bed for half of it staring at the ceiling and inside the toilet, ha ha. Being sick is definitely the worst thing on a mission because you have absolutely nothing to do, ha ha. But it's okay! I got to sleep a lot which was kind of nice, ha ha!

We were sitting around after church and this little girl was playing with us and she asked if she could take pictures with my camera, ha ha. She told me to pose for her and this is the pose she told me to do, ha ha.



So since really nothing happened, I just want to tell you about Saturday and Sunday. We were preparing sister Anna for her baptism and had a few things to review and go over with her to make sure she understood everything. She remembered everything, ha ha. The last thing I talked to her about was the sacrifice Joseph Smith went through in order to bring us this church. She was really touched by it and told us so a couple of times. When Elder Jones came to interview her on Saturday night one of the first things she said was, "Joseph Smith died for this church, I am willing to do the same because I know it's the truth." Elder Jones came up to me after the interview and said, "That women is unlike anyone I have seen...." She truly is one of a kind!

On Sunday, she was so excited to be baptized that she was just beaming! Something super sad happened though, when she was getting dressed, she told the women helping her that she wished her sister would have been here to witness this and she began to cry. Her sister hates this church and won't have anything to do with it. Anna was doing this all on her own without any support from friends or family. Her testimony is so strong. After she came out of the water, she just started to cry and had a huge smile on her face. She was prepared by the Lord to meet us that Sunday a month ago. I love this lady with all of my heart and so does her Heavenly Father.

Sorry for sending such a short letter but I don't know how much you want me to go into detail of my being sick this past week, ha ha.

Hats are nice to have (with Elder Sebuliba) Alright everyone, I am 1 month down. It's kind of crazy to think it's been this fast! I love it here so much! Ok so this week has been insane. We got our new companions and our areas of service on Wednesday. I was assigned to open a new area called Akati. No missionary has set foot there and most people haven't seen a white man so they all are saying "Yevoo yevoo!" (means white man in Ewe, there native tongue). So to get there we had to go take the local transport system called Trotro's. A trotro is a big van that civilians just drive and are trying to get cash. It's insane. So we found a trotro at a trotro station going to a place near our mission. So we got in the trotro and waited an hour for it to fill up. We were pretty much cooking in it haha. Busy, busy work week here!

This is one of the missionaries in our apartment. His name is Elder Wehyee from Liberia. We came back and found him like this yesterday, ha ha. Man this last week was probably one of the busiest weeks we have had so far! We had so many lessons to go to this week it was insane! People were actually wanting us to come and see them, so much so, that they were actually calling us! Happy Mother's Day!!!

This little girl is so adorable, ha ha! May 14th, 2018 I know that Mother's day was yesterday but anyone who reads this I just want you to know how amazing all of our Mothers are! I mean they give birth to some of the biggest knuckle-heads *cough *cough...me, ha ha. But seriously though, you Mom's are absolutely amazing! You have raised us in the church our entire lives and taught us everything we need to know in order to follow our Savior the best we can. I love reading the story of the 2,000 stripling warriors because they specifically say that their mothers taught them to be faithful and to remember the Lord always. Just as you have all done. I love you all and just want to thank you for giving all of your children your time and devotion to raise us in this world today. For funerals in Akatsi they get a bunch guys together on motorcycles and just drive around honking their horns for ever, ha ha. Well now I will talk about how much I am going to miss Akatsi. I h...
