A hard week finally paid off! 11-12-2018
Good old rain in Ghana!
This past week was extremely hot, lots of rain, and not much
success trying to find new people. BUT.... We have finally found three people who
are showing some real potential!
First let's start with Anna. We met her two weeks ago and I
talked about her in my letter last week. This past week while trying to see her
we learned that she had gotten a new job in a different area and honestly I was
quite disappointed because it meant that she would have to move. Well! She
didn't have to move because someone in our area offered to give her a room for
super cheap! So she is staying! Even better she came to church and
she loved it! A member asked her if she liked the sacrament meeting and she
said she loved it because you could feel the spirit as people were talking. The Relief Society loved her and it made her feel like she was at home. I am so
happy! She is really reading the Book of Mormon and is loving it!
It was a hot long day, so we decided to go buy some
expensive fried rice, that was
actually amazing!
Next is sister Isata. She is living in a different area and
was being taught by missionaries for some time. She moved to the area and the
other missionaries asked us to prepare her for baptism. Man this girl is
awesome! She came to church, we taught her and she accepts everything. I
invited her to pray and ask if this was the true church and she said she would.
Well, when we came back to visit she said that she had been praying and even
fasting because she really, really wants to know the answer! Man when she said
that the spirit just hit me so hard! When you meet the people who really want
to know the truth you can just feel it. IT is such a powerful moment in
missionary work. :)
This is George the almost blind man. He asked to get a
picture with me on Sunday, so I obliged. :)
Sorry my email is so short this week. My keyboard is really
hard to type on, and you have to press super hard for the keys to work so my
hands are super tired ha ha! But I hope you all have a great week! I love you
all!
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
Mom's notes:
1. "Etesang" means how are you in Twi. The response for it would be, "aya"
2. Elder Baird says that his niece, Oakley, is adorable. :)
3. He has two people that are really wanting to be baptized. One has been taught for a long time but the other one is new from last Sunday. Their names are Anna and Isata.
4. He is loving his companion. He says that he is super cool!
