Well this last week was interesting!
The fog in the
morning is so thick!
This last week we had a lot of good and some interesting
things happen!
I will start with one of the good things! We were
visiting with some people late in the evening and this random guy just walked
up to us. At first I was skeptical of what he was doing, because he just started by
saying, "I know you guys are missionaries and I want to know the truth so
can you meet with me tomorrow?" I was like what?! That is so cool! So we
met with him the next day and had a great lesson with him! He accepted
everything and just kept telling us how badly he wanted to know the truth and so he
was happy that he could talk to us. I hope that he reads out of the Book of Mormon
because that right there is the truth to this whole gospel!
Missionary work here
is hot, sweaty and your hair will always be a mess, ha ha!
So on the interesting side of things, our toilet
fell apart ha ha. We were cleaning our apartment when I heard my companion
tell me that the toilet broke. Well the connection pipe that goes from the tank
to the toilet bowl broke so it just started to poor water out onto the floor.
We got the water turned off but there was at least 2 inches of water on the bathroom
floor. I was in there trying to mop it up for a good 45 minutes ha ha ha. Man
gotta love Ghana!
Here's my nice
broken toilet and me cleaning up all the water.
So then over the weekend my companion was feeling pretty
sick. He asked me to give him a priesthood blessing and he said he felt a
little bit better. Then on Saturday it was worse so he asked me to give him
another one. Right after that he just went to sleep so I didn't know how he felt or
what. Well on Sunday, he got up to bear is testimony and just started to talk
about how thankful he was for the priesthood. He talked about the blessings I
gave him and how the last one I gave him just gave him peace. He talked about
how blessed we are to have the priesthood here on earth with us today. It
is so true! Without it we would be lost and confused. It truly is an amazing
power that we have and I am so thankful to be one of the many people who have the privilege of having it.
While studying this week I did a lot of studying on some
of the Christ-like attributes in the preach my gospel book. The one that I
really loved was patience. In it it talked a lot about the Sons of Mosiah and
how they were awful people who were trying to destroy the church. Well they had
a mighty change of heart and were able to become some of the greatest
missionaries in the Book of Mormon. But the part I loved, was when the Lord told
them that if they were patient in all of there afflictions they will have
success and be protected. They were beaten, bound, cast into prison and so many
other things happened. But they were patient and they were blessed for it. Now to
tie it all together I learned that patience is a form of faith in Christ. If we
are patient in our afflictions we are showing faith that we will wait for what
the Lord has in store for us. I truly loved this message and it is my firm
testimony that if we are patient with our afflictions we will be blessed for
it.
I love and miss you all!
Sincerely,
Elder Baird
This is now my staple
breakfast. Bread, banana, and ground nut paste which is like peanut butter but has a lot less flavor, ha ha. But it still has a good nut taste to it!
I found there were like 10 ants coming out of a tiny hole in
the wall, well I sprayed in it with bug spray and then almost instantly
thousands kept coming out! So pretty much this picture is showing all of them dead, ha ha. They were trying to escape but died before they could get away. Yeah so
that was an interesting thing to find!
It's always a joy
when your toilet handle breaks!
I love these weekly letters. We're studying about the some of Mosiah in seminary.

I'm so glad that you enjoy them. I do to! I get super excited for Monday to come. I had to wait until today because he had the power out all day yesterday. He definitely has to rough it there!
