I love Africa!

We switched glasses for the day, ha ha.

Man, I love Africa and I love being on mission!

This last week has been good! Nothing too spectacular happened but it was just a good successful week!

One of our investigators name is Rebeccah. She is married and has 2 kids. She is honestly so amazing! We gave her the first pamphlet, she read it that night. We taught her, gave her the Book of Mormon and said we will give her the next pamphlet. She read that pamphlet that same day and wanted us to come back as soon as possible so we can teach her again! She just loves the message we are teaching and is asking so many good questions! She doesn't doubt anything we are teaching her and she just wants more and more!

I found ice cream!!! I am so happy about it, ha ha. It's so good!

A funny thing that happened, we met a man while buying food at Norkplim's indomei stand. He was asking us all about the church and what it teaches and just how it all works. HE then asked how much it costs to attend church because all the churches here take a collection and if you don't pay the pastor will get mad. I told him that there is no collection. HE looked at me with such a happy face and said, "You have the true church! You don't have to pay to go! Therefore, it must be true!" I was laughing so much ha ha. That is not all he said, he then asked me if we allow alcohol. I told him no and he was sad ha ha. He then said,  "I wish a chilled beer could be part of the work of God." I was laughing so hard at that! Man, he is a funny guy. We will see if we can teach him and if he is serious!

So this is called kentai. It's a form of weaving thread to make stuff. It's so cool!

SO yesterday we went to our branch president's house, let's just say, it's huge! So this man is one of the richest men in West Africa and owns hotels in China. He is pretty big here ha ha. We went to his place and ate food, then watched BYUtv. He then told us stories from his mission and how he baptized a congregation of 50 and the pastor as well and they used his church building to start a branch there. Now that area is part of a stake and is growing even bigger. To hear him talk about that really made me happy because it made me realize that what I am doing here in Akatsi may seem small, but come 20 years from now there might be a stake here, and the church presence will be huge.

This is the kentai I bought.

That leads to my spiritual thought. What we do as members of the church, has a ripple effect. No matter how small of a good thing that you do, it will spread and more people will benefit from you. So for all of you, I want to invite you all to find an opportunity to share a gospel message with someone who isn't a member. Take a small amount of time and use your courage to share what you believe with them. They may not accept it, but know that what you are doing isn't in vain. As members of this church, we are all missionaries. Some are called to be full-time missionaries, but everyone is a missionary in this church. So spread the gospel this week, and share with me your experience. I would love to hear how it goes for you.

Just for fun, ha ha!

I miss you all and love you!

Sincerely,
Elder Baird
