Howdy Everyone!

Image
One of the methods of travel is paying a guy on a motorcycle to drive you around. It's cheap and quick. So this is us driving on a moto. :) This week has been crazy! I kind of told you about it last week and how I will be traveling a lot! So,  I will just sum it all up for you guys ha ha.  On Tuesday we went to Ho so that I could stay with an Elder Fuller. Then his companion and my companion could go back to Accra to renew there non-citizenship cards. So for Tuesday and part of Wednesday I went teaching with Elder Fuller. He is a super cool guy and a really good missionary! He is on his 22nd month so he is super close to going home! On Tuesday night when I was with him, I was looking through their fridge for some food, then I noticed a very specific candy in the corner. I asked him how he got it and he said there was a store near by that sells them in bulk for really cheap. I just about lost my mind! Because it was my absolute favorite candy of all time! I won't s...

5 Weeks Completed!

Taking a break on a kart that was just on the side of the road. Hello everyone. Man! I have been in Ghana for over 1 month already! It is honestly so crazy to see how fast time goes by! It honestly feels like I just got here and I'm already down to 23 months left. When you are working and earnestly trying to serve the Lord the time goes by really quick and it is so nice to feel that blessing! Ok, my week has been crazy! We couldn't drive from Dzodze to Akatsi (pronounced Ah-cot-see) every day last week so we stayed and did splits on Wednesday and Thursday. We got to teach a lot of members and it was really cool to meet such strong people! One lesson there was a lizard running on the roof, which are made of metal, and it's such a loud sound from it's talons scratching on the metal! It freaked me out at first, to be honest, haha! Later that same day...... I went to a members house. They made us dinner. It was rice with some sauce that was super ...

1 Month down!

Image
Hats are nice to have (with Elder Sebuliba) Alright everyone, I am 1 month down. It's kind of crazy to think it's been this fast! I love it here so much! Ok so this week has been insane. We got our new companions and our areas of service on Wednesday. I was assigned to open a new area called Akati. No missionary has set foot there and most people haven't seen a white man so they all are saying "Yevoo yevoo!" (means white man in Ewe, there native tongue). So to get there we had to go take the local transport system called Trotro's. A trotro is a big van that civilians just drive and are trying to get cash. It's insane. So we found a trotro at a trotro station going to a place near our mission. So we got in the trotro and waited an hour for it to fill up. We were pretty much cooking in it haha. Then we started our 5 hour drive to go to Aflou. We stayed there with two Elders so we could go to Dzodze in the morning. ( It's pronounced Joe-J...

End of week 3 letter!

Elder Kowal and Elder Baird Hey everyone! I just got a chance to email you all real quick! I just got out of the MTC and I am in the field! Let me just say it is a completely different world outside of the MTC! Like holy cow! So the mission home is about 10 minutes from the MTC so we put our suitcases in a van and then we just walked over. Right before we left I found Elder Kowal! (For those of you who don't know his full name is Braden Kowal and we grew up together and always hung out while growing up.) It was super cool to see him! He was made the AP yesterday so he had to help out with all the new missionaries coming! Then when we got to the MTC we got to go out and proselyte! And I was grouped up with Elder Kowal! So going out with him was such a great experience! He can speak Twi and Ewe so well so it's funny to see peoples response when they see a white man speaking their language! So we got to do that for a few hours and gave out like 6 Books of Mormon! It was sup...

MTC training is really tiring!

Image
MTC training is really tiring  Alright everyone so week 2 is over! Wow time is already flying by! The days feel like they move so slowly, but when I look at how long I have already been here it is amazing! OK so for starters, on Sunday I got dysentery. For anyone who doesn't know what that is it is really, really bad diarrhea. Like wow! I felt so sick for a good two days. It was a struggle ha ha. But that is OK! I am feeling a little better thanks to my mom packing me some Imodium! We went to the temple today and it was awesome once again! The temple is very small but at the same time is so beautiful! I honestly think everyone should just fly to Ghana to come and see it for themselves:)   Just cuz, why not??? This is my district at the temple So on Halloween people were going around and knocking on doors and asking for candy:p the Africans loved the idea and there were a ton of them going along with it ha ha it was great! So ...
