A bit of a lazy week, ha ha!

Mom - I found this cute picture on Facebook. This sweet sister/family had Elder Baird over for dinner. I think it was the meal when he had Shepard's pie and ice cream. She sent me a friend request and this was on her page waiting for me. What kind and thoughtful members! :)

My companion was really sick this past week so we were only able to go out for about two days. Which means, unfortunately, not really much happened, ha ha.

But I would still like to share a couple things with you guys today. First, I was asked to give a talk in sacrament meeting which I was super excited about! I just love giving talks and I was super excited to do it! But I couldn't figure out what topic I should speak on. I was wanting to speak on a topic that would help the investigators that we were teaching. SO I naturally sat down and I said a prayer. Then I felt inspired to look through the Liahona and to look through the last general conference talks.

While I was going through it I really felt inspired to use the talk President Nelson gave for my talk. As I was reading it, I felt inspired to talk about the gifts of the Holy Ghost and specifically to talk about revelation. I gave my talk on Sunday and I was happy that a couple of my investigators were there. When I was speaking I kept looking at them and could see that something was different. They looked as though something was really touching their heart. After church, my bishop came and thanked me and said how wonderful it was. Even better, my investigators seemed so happy throughout the rest of the day. The Holy Ghost is a really powerful tool and the only one we can use to help convert people to the truth

SO we just found out this past week that our mission president would like to close down our proselytizing area for a time. He is doing it because of the low level of success and also because our chapel is so far from the area we proselyte. They would like to try opening a new branch in our area.

When we told our bishop the news, he looked at me and my companion and said, "Oh! That can't happen! You guys are the best missionaries we have ever had!" Many people have been telling us this during the past week. I am honestly going to miss this area. I really am. The ward here is so amazing. They have such strong testimonies and you can tell they are all so truly converted.

Well that's all I really have for this past week! I hope you all are doing well!

Sincerely,
Elder Baird

Mom's notes:

1. I asked Elder Baird what he did while he was at the apartment with Elder Alumande. He said, I just played the piano, studied and slept, ha ha.

2. He said that this week he has lessons to teach but he will mostly spend the time finding new people to teach so that when they merge the area with the other ward those missionaries will have some new people to teach.

3. He always says that he goes knocking on gates so I asked him what that meant. He said, "Well here all the houses have big cement walls around them so you can't go knocking on their door. We have to knock on the main gate outside, ha ha. The doors are metal. SO it's quite fun when their isn't a bell so I get to make a lot of noise, ha ha.

4. Transfers are next week. He will find out where he is going on Saturday. He is ready for the change. He said that even though he loves the ward so much he is ready to move.

5. He wants me to congratulate Grandma and Grandpa on their 50th Wedding anniversary! :)
