Transfer week!

Elder Bidi and I on our last p-day.

This week is the end of our nine week transfer! Let me just say that it was super long, but a lot of great things happened!

I will be staying in Akatsi! Woo Hoo!! But I will be receiving a new companion named Elder Wilcox. I know he is from the US but I'm not sue about the exact state yet, ha ha. I will let you guys know about that next week. Also, there is some good news about our chapel. Not this coming Sunday, but the one after that we will have our first service here in Akatsi. Now to describe my excitement is impossible, because words can't describe how excited I am! I have been waiting for 5 months for this opportunity and now I will truly get to see the start of the Akatsi branch start growing.

Elder Bidi and I with the branch presidency of the Dzodze branch.

I have a really quick funny story. We were visiting with one of our investigators and a little girl down the road saw me and started yelling and running around. So I asked what she was saying and they just started laughing. They said that she was saying, "It's Jesus! It's Jesus! He has come!!!" The little girl really thought I was Jesus Christ! I never, ever, thought that would happen! ðŸ˜…

We had the opportunity to watch part of General Conference on Sunday at President Jon's place. We were able to watch everyone in the First presidency speak and let me tell you that it was absolutely amazing. While I was watching I tried to look for some quotes that stood out to me so I will share them with you and then explain why I loved them so much.

So I found a kid climbing a coconut tree, yeah I was completely terrified to be honest, ha ha!

"Heavenly Father is aware of you." -Henry B. Eyring
I felt really touched by hearing this because there are times that we don't feel that God is there or that he is listening. But in all reality, he is. He truly is. He is even here for me out here in a small village in the jungle of Ghana, he is aware of me at all times.

"Consistently follow the small and simple things of the church." -Dallin H. Oaks.
This message is pretty much self-explanatory. If we follow the simple things then big things will come out of it. If we read the scriptures a little every day, we will at one point be able to quote them and be able to stand for the church. If we follow all the small and simple commandments the Lord will send so many blessings to us that we won't know how to receive them.

"The Holy Ghost is a gift that can and WILL change your life." -Russell M. Nelson
This is so true. It is a gift that can and will change you if you allow it too. If we stay worthy of this gift we will be changed. So we need to strive to seek the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost always.

I know that Russell M. Nelson is the Lord's true prophet on the earth today. The Spirit testified it to me and I hope it did to you all as well. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of this church. So never, I mean never, forget who you are and what church we are a part of. I love you all and hope that you have a wonderful week.

Sincerely,
Elder Baird

Mom's notes:

1. The Internet cafe' that Elder Baird goes to was closed yesterday so he emailed us today. He told me that the Internet cafe' that he goes to is only about 10 minutes by bike from his apartment. It is called Vixtech solutions. I will have to see if I can find it on Google. :)

2. He thinks that his new companion, Elder Wilcox, is from Utah and that he has three months left on his mission. He will stay in his same apartment and Elder Bidi will be going to Ho. He said that Elder Wilcox served in Dzodze about 6 months ago so he is finishing his mission in about the same area.

3. President Keyes will be coming to do training for the new church on Saturday. He will make a group leader. (not sure how it all works)

4. He says that he has at least 10 investigators lined up to be baptized after they are able to attend church.

5. I asked him if he had a story about a specific lesson this week. He said, "Hmm. I am having a hard time remembering a specific lesson. Oh! We taught a girl named Vida and after finishing the first lesson she asked if we had any book about Joseph Smith because she was truly interested in learning more about him. This last week was a little rough on the lesson side to be honest, ha ha. Elder Bidi was just dead and I got sick again, ha ha. I asked him what he gave the girl and what sickness he had. He said, "We have a pamphlet that is just about Joseph Smith and his life, and it wasn't my stomach I had a super sore throat, headache with bad sinuses.

6. He was super happy about the Layton temple.

7. Sister Norkplim made him fried cheese (it was homemade cheese), otherwise he mostly eats the same foods.
