Well Hello Everyone!

Opened my first Christmas package and found myself a tree :)

Well, how has everyone been?? I hope life's treating everyone well back at home. Feel free to email me guys! Send me pictures of snow and I'm not just talking about my family I'm talking to everyone who is getting these emails or is reading my blog! Show your adventures because I want to see what you are all doing.

Picture that Sister Keyes took of them at training.

Well let me just start off with this week was pretty crazy haha. So we had to drive to Accra for a training meeting with the Mission President. Driving to Accra takes about 4 hours so that's always fun haha. So we went there and had a really great lesson. We stayed the night because of the drive back is so long. Well some elders found a loaf of bread that was just huge!

Picture that Sister Keyes took of them at training (I am guessing that this is where he gets his bread slice from)

I will send you a picture of the slice I ate. It was way way way bigger than my head! But it was pretty good!

Giant piece of bread haha

Well that night in the mission home there was a rat running around in the ceiling above my head which was pretty freaky haha.

Picture that Sister Keyes took of them at training. I can see Elder Baird and Elder Kowall in the back.

The next day I was having some issues with my chest and so I had to go to the hospital for a bit. Don't worry, nothing is wrong I just have to take some medicine. :) I know you all got worried for a second, I'm glad you all care about me so much. :) Okay, anyways, while there I met a man from Sweden who was doing a service there. He was helping teach English and Math. As it turns out, he is an atheist and he was curious about why I was here in Ghana. So, I gladly told him and he was very interested. SO I taught him the first lesson and then just left. I don't know how he took it but it was pretty cool because the spirit was pretty strong there. I could just tell something inside of him was super curious so going to the hospital was honestly a really cool experience.

This is Jerry. He is in the Dzodze branch and has come to really like me. He just got baptized and asked if I could take a picture with him haha. He is one great kid!

We got back to our area on Thursday night and went proselyting as normal. Nothing really spectacular happened haha. But people here are starting to get really curious about who we are. They are constantly stopping us and are asking what we are doing. They see me run in the morning and I actually had one guy ask if I was training for the Olympics. I wish I was! I had another kid ask if I could join the Akatsi soccer team and play for them. :p I sadly had to decline but I will definitely play with them just for fun!

We got to roast a pig today. :) That fire was so hot though! (as you can tell by my face haha)

So today we had a District activity and for the activity we bought a pig, killed it ourselves and cooked it. That was quite an experience! But it tasted really good! I will send some good pictures for you guys. :)

I love you all and hope everything is going well. I just wanted to leave with you all a small message from my heart. Listen to the promptings of the spirit. Sometimes, it might be a prompting but it just seems to be a random thought that came into your head. Sit back and think, why is that thought in my head and could it be a prompting? We don't realize how many promptings we have in our day until we truly look for them and try to focus. So as this Christmas Season is going on, try to listen to the spirit, and then act on it. Find someone to serve. But don't stop there. Keep serving. I love you all and can't wait to hear from you guys. :)

...and I'm serious! I want to hear from all of you, even if your not family! :)

Have a great week everyone!!! :)

My email is landon.baird@myldsmail.net if you want to let me know how you are doing:)

Sincerely,
Elder Baird

Joy in fixing bikes and getting dirty!

A couple of notes:

His chest problems are from the Doxycycline that he takes to prevent malaria. I guess that it burned his esophagus. So, hopefully, they have that fixed now.

Nocblyn is still on date for his birthday. He says that they are teaching her almost every day and that she wants to keep learning and learning and that she just loves everything that they teach her.

He taught me a word in Ewe it is Effoing (eff-wa) It means how are you?

He really misses cheese and popcorn. (no surprise there :) )

He really loves his mission president, President Keyes.
