1.) Ghana temple is beautiful:) So where do I even start! I guess I will just tell you guys everything! So leaving was not easy, haha. Seeing everyone crying was super hard, I was holding strong until I hugged my cousin Porter which he usually doesn't. But while he was hugging me he told me he was going to miss me a ton. I thought I could hold it in but I looked at my dad and pretty much just lost it, because he had so many tears. But the worst was hugging my mom for the last time. I just want to say that my mom has been one of the greatest examples to me from the beginning. I love you mom! Ok, so, walking to the terminal took a minute, but once I got down there I found all the other missionaries going to the Ghana MTC! We counted 35 just in Salt Lake! So we had about a 7 hour flight to Amsterdam. Once there we got there we found about 15 more missionaries and we all flew to Ghana together.  2.) Elder Howell and me on the plane That was super fun! I got to si...

MTC Dedication Day!!!

Image
Sister Keys Posted this on Facebook today: "What a great blessing we received today ... to witness the dedication of the Ghana Accra Missionary Training Centre (MTC) and to listen to an Apostle of the Lord speak. I wish you could have heard the MTC missionaries singing hymns in both French and English together 'African style' ... wow!! They only had 3 practices and learnt French in just 4 days ... it was mind blowing to witness! We then had the added blessing of being counseled and trained this afternoon by both Elder and Sister Bednar. My heart is full! Two more days of training and catching up with special friends from the other Missions from the Africa West Area s that we haven't seen since we were all in the Provo MTC Mission Presidents & Wives Seminar together in June ...  " You have to look close in the last two photos but he is there visiting with the other Elders. It is so awesome that Elder Baird is able to be there for the MTC dedica...

First words from Ghana...

I received his first email from Ghana! Happy day: Hey mom! I just arrived to Ghana! It is a very different place! But I can already tell you that I absolutely love it here! Almost instantly people were already asking for money haha and apparently a bunch of elders gave them money. I was good and didn't:) So this is really all I can do because we don't have much time! Oh! Real quick! So I sat with an Elder Howell on both flights and he is awesome! And he's from Ogden so that is good! He was able to give a man a Book Of Mormon on the plane! I didn't see this happen because I apparently was asleep:P But yeah that was way cool! I love you all so very much!    I don't have time to read your email or Brendon's so I will respond to them when I can!  Love you! Elder Baird Then I received two wonderful pictures from the mission secretary, Sister Glanfield. Thank you Sister Glanfield! She said, Hello Brother and Sister Baird, I was he...

Saying goodbye...

Image
On Sunday, October 15th, Landon spoke in church on service. After church we had dinner of Hawaiian Haystacks (the twins favorite). Brook made a slideshow that we played. Here is that as well: Saying goodbye was hard. Landon had some specific things he wanted to do, like have Lauren pop his back for the last time in 2 years. He got set apart by President Harris on Tuesday, October 17th. It was a very beautiful and comprehensive blessing. He should be very safe and happy on his mission with a blessing as incredible as that was. Our wonderful big family all showed up to support him. Thank you amazing family!!!  Then afterwards we went to the Cantina for a very cheesy last family meal for Elder Baird. October 18th, 2017 we got up early and Mom, Dad and Landon attended the temple together. It was a pretty special morning! We came home to finish packing, shoving and weighing Landon's luggage. It was quite a chore! Then we had a couple of hours...

Getting ready to go...

We spent the last several months shopping, researching and packing Landon. He was a good sport on the many shopping trips and errands that we had to do. We did everything from getting painful shots, getting an international drivers license and finding comfy church shoes. We also, packed in a lot of fun. In August we went camping with the James Family in Bear Lake. Brook and Taylor blessed baby Oakley. Went back to Bear Lake with Drew & Hailey and stayed in Drew's parents cabin. Drew taught us how to wake board.  We got family pictures taken. We had an awesome Halloween Harry Potter Party. Thanks Bingham's! Landon baptized Kamdon. He made lego ships with his brothers, he arranged a video game marathon day and he had a couple of airsoft wars. He is the guy 3 from the right back with the mask on ;) As promised, he cut off Brendon's Jedi braid. We laminated it and now he has to keep it as a scripture...
