Guess what? Another sick week! 3-11-2019

This is me dying Friday night, ha ha!

We have officially discovered that I have a re-occurring tonsillitis which keeps coming back. So the good news is that now that we know why I am always getting sick. The bad news is, I won't be able to get it fixed until I get home. Endurance is a real thing, everyone, ha ha ha!

This past week I was sick from part of Thursday and then on Friday, Saturdays and Sunday. So really we were only able to work for half of the week. But that is okay. We were able to see some good people and we made do with what we were able to do! I don't really have much else to say, but I want to share with you what our recent convert (brother Samuel) said to me on Sunday. He came into church a little bit early which was kind of surprising because usually he comes in like five minutes late. He walked up to me, shook my hand and said, "Elder Baird, I am going to bless the sacrament today and I am so excited!" I was like, wait, really?? In my head I was thinking, why is he so excited, it's just blessing the sacrament right? Then after the sacrament was passed around he came and sat by me and said, "That felt sooooo cool!"

Good old p-day. Filled with laughter, sports, very hot sun and lots of sweat!

I was so happy for him but I was really asking myself, how could that be so cool? I then started to think about the first time I blessed the sacrament and how cool it felt, but I didn't seem to be as excited as Samuel was. Then it dawned on me how truly important the sacrament is. A lot of times we get so used to it and it's just has become a normal thing. I grew up taking it every Sunday and yeah I knew what it was for, but I didn't really comprehend the importance. Samuel understood the importance and the responsibility he had to fulfill while blessing it. It made me feel kind of bad for saying to myself, "it's just the sacrament." But really, this is a holy and sacred ordinance performed by Jesus Christ himself. To have the opportunity to do exactly the same thing Christ did for his own apostles is kind of mind blowing. Thanks to Samuel, I really sat back and re-evaluated how important the sacrament truly is. Don't take it for granted anyone. It truly is a wonderful and beautiful experience if you take it serious and prepare yourself every single week.

Since I don't have much else to say this week, I want to share with you all my testimony that, indeed, this is the Lord's church. Because this is his church, we have the opportunity to participate in the ordinances necessary for our salvation. We also have the opportunity to renew those covenants that we have made each week.  All of that is made possible through our Savior. He instituted this ordinance to us to help us along our path of life. Jesus, is the Christ. He indeed rose from the grave to allow us the opportunity to live with him again. I know that we can live with him again if we are faithful in keeping and renewing our covenants as often as possible.

Sincerely,
Elder Baird

These are some pictures that a member took a little while ago and she just sent them to me, so I thought that I would just show them to you guys, ha ha.

Mom's notes:

1. He accompanied a song on the piano for the first time ever. He told me that he was so relieved when it was over and then at the end of the meeting the Bishop got up and told them that the song was so beautiful and he would like for them to come up and do it again. He said that he did pretty good. :)

2. I got these pictures from his Bishop's daughter. :)
