I am leaving Batsonaa!

Image
The progression of my sunburn, ha ha ha. After six months I am finally leaving this wonderful place. I am truly going to miss this place. I have had so much fun and have had so many memories here that I don't think I will never forget. Mission is an amazing experience. We are able to go around to new areas, meet new people and see new cultures. I'm sure that most returned missionaries know just what I am describing. IT is the greatest experience of a lifetime.  This past week was rough, ha ha. To begin with, I got burned really bad while we were at the beach this past Monday. I put sunscreen on my whole body except for where my socks were... Well when I got to the beach I removed my socks and forgot to add sunscreen...... So this whole past week was extremely painful. They got blistered and swelled up super bad so I wasn't actually able to walk most of Saturday.....  To top that off, my companion got really sick on Thursday and Friday...  It w...

One year down!

Exchange with Elder Wilson Officially I have been in Ghana for over one year!  My one year celebration! :) Let me just start off by saying, I can't even believe it's been a whole year. When I woke up that day, it didn't even cross my mind until someone asked when I would hit my one year mark. I was like, "That's today!!" SO, I can't' even tell you what an amazing journey it has been. I have loved every second of it. I truly have.  KFC for our one year!  I want to share with you a really cool experience that happened to us the other day. My companion and I decided to set aside two hours to find new people to teach. As we were going, we stopped at a fork in the road and I asked him where we should go. He pointed to the right. As we were walking up the road, he noticed someone sitting in their shop alone so we went and talked to him. We got talking and he asked us what church we were from. We said the name and he said, "I ...

Another fun week!

Let me start off by saying I forgot to bring my camera cord so I don't have any pictures this week.... sorry guys! But I will get some good ones for next week don't worry! This past week with my new companion was really interesting! I will start with a funny/scary story ha ha. Maybe I shouldn't send this so my mom doesn't read it.  (Mom, this next part you can just skip over but don't worry:))  I was going to a baptismal interview with the other elders in our apartment. I was biking on the side of a busy road, I was on a dirt section and the road was a little higher so there was a small lip that I had to go over to get back onto the road. As I was going over it, I hit a rock that I didn't see because it was dark. It turned my tire completely sideways and I lost control and started to fall. When I was falling, I could of sure there was a car right behind me so I thought I was going to get hit. I fell right in the middle of the road right on my...

A new companion!

Elder Kallay playing with a little girl who stole his sunglasses, ha ha. My companion, Elder Kallay, has gone home as of today. I am really going to miss him. He was a wonderful example of a missionary and he was super good example to all those who were around him. I am honored to say I was with him, even though it was for only three weeks, ha ha.   Saying goodbye to Elder Kallay. Farewell pizza dinner for Kallay. I am now with brother, Samuel Avaiyega, who is a ward missionary. President Keyes had an idea to let him be my companion for three weeks. So it's like I am pre-training him for the MTC which he will report to in forty-five days. I am super excited to serve with him and to see what the next few week will have in store for me! My new companion Brother Samuel. Last week we had a really cool experience happen! We were going to a lesson and when we got there we learned that the man we were supposed to see had traveled. I was pretty anno...

The bus ride home from church, ha ha!  This past weeks was full of some really cool and really funny experiences! I'll start with the funny and fun things. The first one was on Wednesday. We were teaching a man named Maxwell whom we have known for a long time. Teaching him was always difficult because he could never find time for us. But he came to church one Sunday, and decided that he will make time for us to come teach. So we have been teaching him quite a bit for a few weeks now and he has been progressing pretty well. Well the funny thing was, that while we were teaching him, he looked down the road and saw three police officers coming from a ways off. Immediately when he saw them, he just took off running and hid behind a container. Well the police walked by and went on down the road. A few minutes later Maxwell came out and said, "They are coming to collect taxes from me but I don't want to pay." When he said that he had this smug grin on his face an...

New companion, new experiences!

Last district pictures before transfers. I will start off by saying that I am really enjoying my new companion. He goes home in two weeks which stinks because I am really enjoying him and the way he works. He is such a humble and simple guy. The way he teaches is so powerful. When he is speaking you can feel the spirit very strongly. He loves this work and wants to help people come to Christ. He is teaching me so much.  Last meal at Bishops house. I ate three balls of banku. Let's just say, It didn't feel so good when I finished, ha ha! I have a really funny experience you this week, ha ha. SO there is a girl we are teaching, her name is Vanessa. She is our best investigator right now. We will baptize her on October seventh. We were teaching her on Friday night and a taxi pulled up. I asked Vanessa who it was and she said it was her grandma. Her grandma isn't interested to join the church but she loves having us around so it's usually pretty fun t...
