10 months down

Crossing a stream. Oh, Ghana, ha ha.

Well, yesterday officially marked 10 months of my mission complete. At the same time it was the day that my dear sweet grandma Carol Lynn Pearson graduated from mortality to live with her family in heaven. Everyone who knew her and were close with her knew how much love she had for everyone in her life.

I will be honest, it's not easy being here. I am kind of on my own having to cope with all of this, but as I was emailing my mom today something dawned on me,  I am not alone. I have my Father in Heaven, my Savior, my grandfather and my grandmother and so many other people here with me. I just want you to all know that you are not alone.

I would write a lot more but this past week hasn't been so easy for me and my companion. We weren't able to have much success. But that is OK. Missionary work isn't supposed to be easy. Life isn't supposed to be easy. Challenges like this are here to test us. This is my test.

New haircut.

I want you to all know that I won't let this stop the Lord's work that he has planned for me. I love you all and hope you will all feel of Grandma Carols love as we honor her life this week. The plan of salvation is real. I had the opportunity to call my grandmother this past week to say my final goodbye. After my call, my mission president looked at me and said, "You teach the plan of salvation everyday. Now it is your turn to use it in your own life." The plan of salvation guarantees that we will all live together as one eternal family.

"Yea, this bringeth about the restoration of those things of which has been spoken by the mouth of the holy prophets. The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame. And now my son, this is the restoration of which has been spoken by the mouth of the prophets. And then..... shall the righteous SHINE FORTH in the kingdom of god." Alma 40: 22-25

I love you all. Have a wonderful week. And always, remember the Lord in all thy doings.

Love,
Elder Baird

All Africa Service Project.

Mom's notes:

1. Elder Baird gave our family a challenge to read Alma 40 and to focus on 22-25. He said, "It's all about the spirit world and the resurrection and how the spirits of the righteous will shine forth in the kingdom of God. It's a chapter we use every time we teach the plan of salvation."

2. For his p-day they went to mall, got pizza, got some apartment supplies and got his hair cut. It was his best haircut yet (he has a hard time getting a good one). He says that they say that they can touch one hair on his head at a time. Apparently, that is weird for them. ;)

3. He has a training meeting for him and his companion on Wednesday. His president is checking to see how training his companion is going.

4. He is pretty upset about his Grandma's passing. His President called to talk to him about it. He feels very blessed by his President and his wife. They have been so kind to him.

5. He is supposed to have a baptism on September 2nd, which is Kamdon's birthday. It will be a young boy named Harrison. :)
