Ever so closer!

My new kentai:) I am obsessed, ha ha. I designed it myself and he made it for me.

We have been told that the 2nd week of April will be when we have a chapel here in Akatsi and then we should be able to start worshiping right here! I have been working tirelessly for this chapel to finally come. Now it is! I honestly can't wait to see this area of Ghana grow into a thriving branch.

Most of our outlets went out during a storm so our microwave was in our main hall
on a box for the day, ha ha ha!

A few interesting things happened last week. First, while riding up to the house of one of our investigators there was a little kid out front. He turned around and almost immediately as he saw me he just turned and was screaming his head off out of sheer terror, ha ha! He apparently had never seen what a white man looked like so when he saw me it just scared him almost to death, ha ha! He was just screaming bloody murder for about 15 minutes until I went behind the house so he could run home to his mom, ha ha. That was quite a funny experience to have happen,  ha ha.

This is Kelvin and his new ball, he asked me to take pictures of him posing, ha ha!

Then a few days later, went to visit a family that we have been teaching. They have one kid named Kelvin. He absolutely loves having us over and he is 8 years old. My mom had sent me some soccer balls to give to some of the kids we have been teaching. I felt impressed to give him one of them. We brought it to him and he was the happiest little kid I have ever seen. He was running around saying,   "My ball is happy! My ball is love!" His English is struggling a bit, ha ha It was just such a cool experience to get to watch him play with the ball. His dad used to play soccer years and years ago so it was really cool to see him start teaching his son how to play. I love the people here so much because if you gave them anything, they will just be the happiest person ever.

On the lesson side of things, we went to go teach a man named Steven. He doesn't speak English so we needed people to translate. We called some of our investigators to come help us translate. That was literally the coolest lesson I have ever witnessed. We would tell them what to say and they would translate and then they would say their own thing. We have taught them all the lessons and they were pretty much teaching the lesson themselves. We barely gave our input and they taught practically the whole lesson. Even better, they taught all the correct principles. One of them even explained why the golden plates aren't here and we didn't even tell him about that. These men who helped us are fully converted. I haven't seen people be so converted like them before. They know the truth and they are sharing the truth and they aren't even members yet. They keep telling us to prepare the baptismal font when the chapel comes because they want to be the first ones baptized. I honestly can't wait for that day.

I found a kids soccer jersey from Idaho! What a small world!

A mission isn't easy, everyone! I hope you guys really understand that. It's tiring, physically and spiritually exhausting. You will have bad days and good days. You will have some really big disappointments. But in the end, the good out-weighs the bad. So when you are struggling, look for the good of everything. Don't focus on the present and the bad. Look for the future and to the good. That is what I have had to do for these 5 months. I am also so excited for the opportunity to watch General Conference to be fed spiritually. I want all of you to write down your questions and seek your answers from the prophet and his apostles. If you do that, I can promise that your answers will come. I love you all and hope that you have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,
Elder Baird

Some kids who just wanted to take pictures, ha ha.
