Sick still! 8-26-2019

Trip to Elder Smith's old area called Suhum this past Tuesday.  Last week I was still sick clear up until Thursday night. Let's just say that, it was quite a miserable week going up and down for transfers and trying to go and see my investigators. But! We make do with what we are given right? SO this past week we had the chance on Friday to start teaching two referrals that live with some members. One is named Israel and the other is named Jordan. While we were teaching them they were both asking such wonderful questions. For example, Israel asked, "You are asking us to pray and know the truth like Joseph Smith and I want to and I am ready to learn if it is true, but how did you receive your answer when you were in my situation?" I sat there for a second and said to myself, how did I come to know it's true? Well the specific experience came to my head and I had the chance to share it with him. I could see a change in his countenance as he thoug...

Elder Baird's apartment on Google maps.   5°41'51.8"N 0°01'29.5"W  Well it seems like I can't run away from getting sick, ha ha. But that is okay. In six weeks it should get better, I hope! This is official start of my last transfer in Ghana. Elder Smith will be going home this week and I will get a new companion named Elder Niu from Tonga. Last transfer, last companion. I don't want this to end yet. But, all things must come to an end! So from Thursday to today I have been sick so I literally laid in bed since then so not much really happened, ha ha. I will try my best to make this a longer letter than last week. On Saturday, we had the opportunity to go and participate in the baptisms that Elder Warr and Elder Adebesin were doing. They had a total of six baptisms on Saturday. He will go home this week. It is a wonderful way to end your mission having the opportunity to baptize that many people. While I was observing the service a tho...

Running in to Elder Miller at the temple! So I am currently feeling super sick(again) so I will write this quick because I need to get home, ha ha! Nothing new for me, I guess!  Saying goodbye to Elder Bailey, my good friend. I will sure miss him!  (He is going home next week) To start with, we met a boy this last week named Anxious. We taught him the first part of the restoration of the gospel and he seemed interested. He asked us to come back on Saturday so we can teach him again. When we got there we had a wonderful lesson and we asked him to read the Book of Mormon and we asked him if he will come to church. He agreed to come to church! So we took him to church and on our way there I asked him if he read the Book of Mormon and if he had prayed about it to know if it was true. Well all he said was this, "Oh it's true. I prayed and I just knew in my heart it was true and that God is the one who told me." I was quite surprised by that! He also said th...

Stressful week! ha ha! 8-5-2019

Our class that we taught on Tuesday. The main thing that kept us busy this last week, was doing all of our preparation for our talent show. We had planned it for Saturday for the Stake Center. It took a long time of setting up, printing, downloading music and all of that took many hours. Did it work out like we were hoping? Sadly no, ha ha. A few of the acts didn't even come and a lot less people came than expected. So to be honest, I was really upset with it and felt like it was a failure. Yesterday, I called Elder Knecht our AP to report on the zones progress and I told him about my feelings of the activity and this is what he said, "Elder, you have no idea how much good you did by arranging that activity. You probably touched some of those members hearts and gave them a memory they will never forget." After he said that, I said to myself, "He is right." We can be too hard on ourselves in life this life. We don't give ourselves as much credit as ...

Another week in the work! 7-30-2019

Well this past week was busy as usual. TO be honest nothing really spectacular happened. We had a lot of let downs. Basically, all of the people we were teaching that we had planned to baptize next month have fallen through. It's really quite hard to find these people and to love and desire their salvation but to have them not progress. But, it is okay. Life wasn't made to be easy. That's how we become stronger individuals!  Some cool things did end up happening! Last week on Tuesday, we taught a girl by the name of Dina. She is awesome! She had some super inspired questions about why there is so much confusion when it comes to Christianity. She said to us, "I just want to know why we don't have one church." Well that is a perfect question to ask! So as we taught her she was very excited and read the assignments we gave her so when we came back on Friday and Saturday she had more questions. She loved learning and especially about the BOM. She really ...
