Three months down!

Image
Last night on our way back to the apartment there was a nice big fire burning about 30 yards from our apartment. Apparently, out here in Ghana, they just light the bush on fire to get rid of it. Slightly scary when biking home and the fire is in our way of going home, ha ha! Well everyone! I am now 3 months in! 21 To go!! It is really crazy to look back at the past 3 months and think of all of the many things that have happened. There have been so many trials and hardships, I have felt lonely, homesick, but at the same time I am strengthened to know that I have had so much success. I know the Lord is here with me and He is helping me. This area is going to grow very fast! I probably won't be here when that happens, but I'm happy that I got the chance to plant the seeds. :) Some of the stuff that happened this week was kind of on the crazy side. We had a man on Saturday that we were teaching. His name is John. He was really accepting and he was loving what we ...

Hello from Akatsi :)

Here I am pounding fufu. :) Well, this week was just a good normal week! It went really well! We had a lot of lessons and we are having a lot of progress! Our investigators are really excited to learn and they want to keep learning! Many of them know that what we are teaching is true and they are asking us to be baptized. The only difficult thing is that they can't come to church because of the distance and the cost. Because none of them can make it to church, it brings the challenge of not being able to really get them involved and on the path to baptism. One of the requirements is that they at least attend church 3 times. So it's pretty difficult, but I know that once we get a building everything will take off and go very well. :)  This is what fufu looks like while it is being pounded. On Wednesday, I got to go on an exchange with our zone leader Elder Mathews from St. George, Utah. He is such a cool guy! We get along very well! He loves airsofting ...

Hello Everyone :)

First Mission Baptism Well this last week was interesting! A lot happened! So for starters the week was really rough  ha ha. Elder Bidi and I were super excited because we had a lot of lessons planned, we were studying for all of them and just couldn't wait to teach them. Well every day it seemed everyone we had scheduled wanted to cancel. So with all that planning and excitement we had, we were really let down. Why not have some fun while biking ha ha? I did that while riding on the main road with no hands on the handle bars. ;) I'm getting really good at riding with no hands. :) We were biking around contacting for about 6 hours each day. Now let me just say, that is exhausting. Even though it was hard it came with a few blessings. I got a free loaf of bread, we got some really good new investigators and we were actually able to find someone who was taught by missionaries a year ago! He was so excited to see us and he can't wait to come to church with us...

Happy New Year!

My companion and I, ha ha. Happy New Year! Well, I hope you guys had a great New Years day and that you celebrated big on my birthday!!! :) Man! New Years Day here was loud, ha ha. It's bigger than Christmas to be honest! They light off fireworks all night long. The clubs are blasting there music all night long, man it was crazy! Then all the churches were having their end of year meetings, ha ha. It's kind of interesting hearing so many churches speaking in tongues all at once (speaking in tongues here means you speak gibberish and that you can only understand through the spirit, which pretty much it's nonsense, ha ha). Norkplim wanted to join in, ha ha! These are some of my favorite kids to play with. :) The kids enjoyed the New Years Day as well. :) On Friday of last week, we got to go to a branch Christmas party for the Dzodze branch. At first it started out kind of slow and seemed like it was going to be boring, ha ha, but it ended up actually be...
